Today we took Kevin (my son) to Amarillo with us, and met my sister and her hubby for lunch. Kevin likes the ribs at the Country Barn (a steak & BBQ place) so that's where we went. I thought the food was very good today - I had pulled pork and beef brisket with corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. Joe wasn't thrilled with his food, but I think he's just not feeling good today (he was out waaaayy late last night after the Ducks Unlimited banquet - there was an "after party" for the event committee members - 'nuff said). Kevin said the ribs really hit the spot. You just can't get Texas-style barbeque in Alaska.
"Boo" (in front) and "Rascals" (my sister's two beagles). Boo is the one who has eaten my sister's house. (carpet, furniture, bedding, underwear - you name it, this dog has destroyed it)
Kevin brought his laptop and showed pictures of his new house and lots of various pictures of Alaska. I wish I'd brought my memory card so I could have copied some of his pics. Jana showed some pictures from the Amarillo Museum of Art gala they attended last night. Jana's husband's uncle was the honored artist at the gala. He's a photographer who specializes in Texas landscapes; however, he was honored for donating his personal collection of art to the museum. Anyway, Jana had to buy a formal dress and Mark rented a tux. Her dress was beautiful, a dark grey-blue shimmery flutter dress with a matching bolero. She can wear it for other formal events like at their annual company convention's ball or if they go on another cruise and she needs a formal gown.
Oh, and my sister finally asked when I was going to knit socks for her. (I was wearing my very first socks I ever knit today) I asked what color/style she wanted - ugh. She wears khakis and a company polo shirt 6 days a week. That was a clue.... she wants tan or khaki socks. She's so NOT into fun socks. The pattern I was wearing today was fine - its Cascading Leaves by Jeanie Townsend (not a bad knit) but it must be superwash. Sounds like Knit Picks Essential to me, or maybe some plain tan Opal or Regia if there is such a thing. Gag, it sounds boring, but maybe her dog won't eat them. We'll see.
I love the new picture of you Jeri!!! And I sure can't see any family resemblance between you and your sister....nope, not a gene anywhere!
Maybe you can find a dull sock yarn in vari-colors of tan....
