Today dawned cold and dreary. I buried my head under the pillow and slept as long as I could. I finally got up around 9:30 am, which is earlier than usual. But then, Joe had the alarm set for 5:30 am so he could get up and take one of his buddies to the doctor. After getting a shower and putting cream on my face, I settled in for some Food Network TV.
Why are people ugly and mean? I saw an episode of "Boy Meets Grill" where Bobby Flay was cooking for his wife (who looked like that D.A. on Law & Order) so I looked it up on the internet. (she is the same person! Stephanie March) I'm not all googly about celebrities, I was just curious about this particular situation. Anyway, one of the links that came in on my search was for someone's blog, someone who obviously HATES Bobby Flay and said some REALLY really nasty things about him, along with probably 100+ commentors who gave their rendition of Flay hate. WOW! I mean, no one on that blog could possibly know Bobby Flay. How could such hatred exist?
I know from reading different news websites that similar hatred exists for most situations. All you have to do is read the comments on any news story on these news websites, and you'll see that people think its ok to say ugly things on "the internet". It even appears that some of these people posting comments are familiar with each other, as if they verbally spar with regularity on those sites. Why? Why would you waste your time picking fights and arguing with people you don't know?
It reminds me of that quote from George Bernard Shaw: "I learned long ago not to wrestle with a pig; you both get dirty and the pig likes it."
