Warning! There will be photos, many photos!
Here's my Ribbed Scarf - about halfway through - I haven't had time to work on it this week. I've worked late every night, and was barely able to eat supper and walk the dogs before crashing into bed. I am totally enjoying this project!
Recent additions to the yarn stash - from a JoAnn's shopping trip. Yeah, desperate times call for desperate measures. I've been known to make margaritas from tequila and Lime Koolaid before, too. I have to buy the good stuff online, which really pisses my husband off, so when I get a "hankering" for some fiber, JoAnn's will have to do. Actually there's some fun stuff in that basket. See:
Lion Suede - Purple, Fuschia, and Green (kinda avocado-y). This will be a scarf - there's a pattern on the wrapper. I think its pretty... kinda scared to work with it though, it doesn't seem like it would slide easily off the needles. Definitely will be using plastic ones for this project.
This is the other colorway of Cache - pinks and greens - and some Moda Dea "Dream". Its really soft and yummy. I wonder how hard it would be to knit a strand of each at the same time? They go together really nicely.
This is Paton's "Carmen" - another soft yarn - this has little white, beige, and black "tags" in it. I don't have any kind of plan for it either. It might be fun with a black or beige knitted something, as stripes or trim on the piece.
Here's some Bernat Sox. I love this color! I've been watching the Socka-pal-2za knitters showing the pretty sock they're making this time and have bookmarked some nice patterns. I am going to make socks before the end of August! I have decided this must be done this summer.
That's all the yarny stuff for now. I've been a bad girl and done some mail-ordering too - hope to post those in the next day or two.
In the last month or two, I haven't really done a whole lot of anything. I know I'm depressed about my parents' deaths (and I am taking something for that) but I just don't have any get-up-and-go. I've read a couple books, and I do a little laundry, but mostly I sleep. My workdays are long, and by the time I get home, there isn't much left of the day. My knee is still bothering me too, though I'm getting used to the constant ache. I don't get much relief from pain meds, so I don't take anything but the Celebrex for it. *sniff, sniff, poor pitiful me* :-)
We had a nice breakfast this morning - went to the coffee shop for a bagel and coffee. Met up with a couple of my friends there and got to visit awhile - I haven't seen them all summer. And how did it get to be the middle of July already?
"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, 'There she goes!'
Gone where? Gone from my sight ... that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, 'There she goes!' there are other eyes watching her coming and their voices ready to take up the glad shouts 'Here she comes!'
